Gotcha Day! - Nov. 28th
Today, my heart doubled in size. Our family seems complete.
None of us could sleep very well last night, partially because our hotel room was too hot, but mostly for all the reasons you could imagine. After breakfast, our guide (Emily) took us to the orphanage. We travelled for about an hour through Chengdu.
On our arrival, we met with the orphanage director for some preliminary paperwork and then our daughter's primary nanny, Zhou Shu Jun, brought her in to meet the family. We were all excited. I thought Grayson was about to explode. Our daughter was not quite as thrilled. She cried a good bit. You want her to be thrilled to see you, but that was not the case. I think they explained that we were coming to take her from the only home she has ever known. She had clearly bonded with her primary nanny, which is good. But I'm also sure that made it more difficult for her. The ability to form an emotional attachment is evident in her. Now, the rest is all up to us. Thanks again for all your kind thoughts and prayers.
